The Hind Rajab Foundation has filed a disciplinary complaint against a senior federal public prosecutor in Germany after criminal allegations against a German Israeli soldier were dismissed. The group had accused the soldier, Shimon Avichai Zuckerman, of involvement in the destruction of buildings in Gaza and argued that Germany is legally obligated to investigate and prosecute its citizens for international crimes committed abroad.
The foundation initially submitted a complaint in June 2025, citing social media videos in which Zuckerman allegedly documented demolitions. Prosecutors dismissed the case in April 2026, prompting the organization to appeal and submit a detailed investigative report. It now claims the dismissal violates Germany's legal obligation to pursue potential international crimes.
Representatives of the organization argue that accepting the suspect's account without further investigation undermines the rule of law and amounts to state complicity. They are seeking a renewed criminal investigation, an arrest warrant, and disciplinary action against the prosecutor who closed the case. The German Federal Public Prosecutor's Office has been approached for comment.
