Yashar! party leader Gadi Eisenkot said he would be willing to sit in a coalition with haredi parties, stating that he is prepared to work with 'anyone who strengthens the State of Israel.' He made the remarks during a visit to Tel Aviv's Carmel Market, where he addressed questions about potential future partnerships.
His comments come amid reports of contacts between Yashar! and Avigdor Liberman's Yisrael Beytenu regarding a possible merger. Both parties recently confirmed they are expected to meet to discuss a potential union, saying their decisions will be guided by what best serves their political bloc ahead of party list deadlines.
Liberman, however, has maintained a hard line on the issue of military conscription exemptions for the ultra Orthodox community. He has said there will be no unity government as long as draft avoidance continues, criticizing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for maintaining alliances with Shas and United Torah Judaism and pledging to push for a universal draft law and a state commission of inquiry.
