The head of the local council in the Arab village of Jadeidi-Makr and his deputy were shot on Monday morning in what authorities described as a targeted attack. Both men were transported to the Galilee Medical Center, one in serious condition and the other in moderate condition.
Large police forces from the Western Galilee station were deployed to the scene and launched a manhunt for the suspects. Officers set up roadblocks in the area and began collecting evidence as part of an ongoing investigation.
Medical personnel reported that both victims were conscious when evacuated. A 49-year-old man sustained moderate gunshot wounds, while another man in his 50s suffered severe gunshot injuries. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
