An inquiry into the University of Edinburgh's historical ties to the transatlantic slave trade has recommended that the university drop its use of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism. The inquiry argued that the definition restricts open discussion about Israel's actions in Gaza and the West Bank. Among its 47 recommendations, the report also urged the university to divest from companies with strong links to the Israeli government. The inquiry highlighted the university's significant involvement in the development of racist pseudoscience and its financial gains from slavery.
