Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to an immediate and unconditional ceasefire to halt recent deadly border clashes. The announcement was made by the Malaysian Prime Minister, who chaired the talks as leader of the regional bloc. Both Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai expressed support for the agreement and emphasized a commitment to restoring normalcy. The border violence, which began after a land mine explosion injured Thai soldiers, has resulted in at least 35 deaths and displaced over 260,000 people.
