The visit, during which the minister reportedly prayed at the site, challenged longstanding arrangements that allow Jewish visitors but prohibit prayer. The move has drawn criticism from several Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Sharif emphasized that such actions inflame regional tensions and called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, as well as renewed efforts toward a two-state solution. Pakistan, which does not have diplomatic relations with Israel, has consistently advocated for Palestinian rights and humanitarian aid to Gaza.
