Sheikh Hikmat Al-Hijri, a prominent spiritual leader of Syria's Druze community, has called for an international and independent investigation into last month's deadly clashes in Sweida province. The violence, which involved confrontations between Druze fighters and pro-government gunmen, resulted in hundreds of deaths. In a televised speech, Al-Hijri expressed gratitude to United States President Donald Trump, Israel, and Gulf Arab countries for their roles in helping to end the violence and protect the Druze community. He urged that those responsible for the clashes be referred to the International Criminal Court and advocated for the deployment of international observer missions to safeguard civilians.
