Border Police officer indicted for beating reporter in Jerusalem's Old City last year

Prosecutors have indicted a Border Police officer for allegedly assaulting a journalist in Jerusalem's Old City last year. The officer, Yazan Joaeh from Maghar, was securing the area following a terror attack when he reportedly beat reporter Itamar Cohen with a baton, breaking his arm. Cohen had returned to the scene after police ordered journalists to leave, and the officer allegedly struck him repeatedly, even after he was on the ground. The indictment states that the officer ignored Cohen's pleas for medical help and continued the assault before telling him to call an ambulance himself. Joaeh now faces charges of assault causing bodily harm in the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court.
