Overnight temperatures near the Dead Sea have set a new record for the hottest nighttime low ever recorded in Israel, surpassing the previous record set just the night before. The Sodom weather station reported a minimum temperature of 38° C (100.4° F) early this morning, beating the prior night's low of 36.6° C (97.8° F). This marks the second consecutive night of record-breaking heat in the region, with the previous record standing at 35.5° C (95.9° F) before the current heatwave. While some areas, including the West Bank and Negev desert, are expected to see temperatures rise into the upper 40s Celsius today, other regions such as Jerusalem and the Sea of Galilee will experience a cooling trend heading into the weekend.
