Massachusetts man sentenced to 26 months for threats to synagogues, Israel consulate

A Massachusetts man has been sentenced to 26 months in prison for making violent and antisemitic threats against synagogues and the Israeli consulate in Boston. John Reardon, age 60, pleaded guilty to charges stemming from dozens of calls and voicemails targeting Jewish institutions beginning in October 2023, following the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas. Prosecutors detailed disturbing messages, including threats to bomb places of worship and harm Jewish children, as well as repeated calls to the consulate referencing the Holocaust. Reardon's attorney cited mental health issues in seeking a shorter sentence, but the judge imposed more than two years of custody, reflecting the severity and impact of the threats.
