Pakistan has called for urgent action to support the United Nations humanitarian response plan for Syria, highlighting that over 16 million Syrians remain in need of assistance. At a United Nations Security Council briefing, Pakistan's Deputy Permanent Representative emphasized the dire situation faced by Syrian children, including widespread hunger and collapsing access to essential services. The United Nations humanitarian chief recently described the situation in Syria as 'dire', noting that aid convoys have come under fire and that funding for the response plan is critically low.

Syria continues to face deep divisions and instability following the ouster of its long-time president, with renewed violence erupting in several regions. Recent clashes in Sweida between Druze militias and Bedouin tribes prompted government intervention and airstrikes by Israel in defense of the Druze. The United Nations envoy for Syria warned that, despite a recent ceasefire, the threat of renewed conflict remains high, and political tensions are escalating.

Pakistan's envoy condemned repeated Israeli violations of Syrian sovereignty, calling them breaches of international law and United Nations resolutions. The country urged the international community to provide immediate humanitarian support and respect Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
