Israel's Foreign Ministry has strongly criticized a recent report from the global hunger monitor, which declared famine in much of the Gaza Strip. The ministry alleges that the monitor manipulated its own standards and ignored key criteria to produce a report that fits what it calls a fabricated campaign. According to the ministry, the monitor lowered the threshold for famine and disregarded mortality data, basing its findings on unreliable sources.
The monitor, however, maintains that its analysis shows clear evidence of starvation and acute malnutrition in Gaza, despite difficulties in collecting mortality data. The Foreign Ministry further claims that the report relies on information provided by organizations with vested interests and accuses it of being influenced by misleading narratives. The ministry concludes its statement by dismissing the report as a politically motivated document.
