The secretary-general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hissein Brahim Taha, has called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, demanding an end to Israeli military actions and the withdrawal of forces. Speaking at a high-level meeting in Jeddah, Taha condemned what he described as genocide, ethnic cleansing, forced displacement, and the ongoing blockade of Gaza, accusing Israel of using starvation as a weapon of war. He also criticized the expansion of Israeli settlements and attacks on journalists, urging legal action under international law. Taha emphasized the urgent need for a stronger international response to what he termed 'horrific war crimes' and warned against Israel's plans for full military control over Gaza. The session highlighted the worsening humanitarian crisis and called for the implementation of resolutions from the recent summit in Riyadh, while welcoming increased recognition of Palestinian statehood.
