A Palestinian doctoral student, Manar Al-Houbi, who secured a scholarship at the University of Glasgow, has expressed deep disappointment after her family was denied entry to Britain. Despite being eligible to bring dependents under her scholarship, the United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office rejected her family's visa applications, citing difficulties in obtaining Israeli permission for their exit from Gaza. Al-Houbi and her family, now living in a tent in Khan Younis after their home was destroyed, have called on the United Kingdom government to intervene. Her academic work aims to promote peace and combat violence against women, and she hopes to return to Gaza to contribute to her community after her studies.
