Interloop Holdings, a leading Pakistani conglomerate known for its textile exports, is expanding into the dairy sector with ambitions to tap into the lucrative Gulf cheese market. Through its joint venture in Turkiye, the group plans to export premium mozzarella cheese and butter to Gulf countries, which collectively import over $2 billion worth of these products annually. The company aims to significantly increase its dairy production capacity and is considering further expansion, including the possibility of establishing a plant in Saudi Arabia.
This move aligns with Pakistan's broader strategy to boost exports and address its widening trade deficit. Interloop is also diversifying into technology and logistics, with active ventures in the United Arab Emirates and plans to raise funds through the stock exchange. Despite challenges such as high taxation and structural economic issues, the company remains optimistic about its growth prospects in the Gulf region, especially in light of strengthening economic and defense ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
