Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa will travel to Moscow tomorrow, according to Syrian state media and sources close to the government. The visit comes despite the postponement of an Arab summit that Sharaa had planned to attend. During his trip, Sharaa is expected to discuss the future of Russia's military bases in Syria and formally request the extradition of former President Bashar al-Assad, who is currently in Russia, to face trial for alleged crimes against Syrians. Sharaa, who led rebel forces into Damascus and formed a new government after Assad's ouster, has seen Moscow attempt to maintain relations with Syria's new leadership, including through recent high-level diplomatic meetings.
