Tamir Nimrodi, a 19-year-old soldier who was taken hostage from his base near the Erez Crossing on October 7, 2023, has been confirmed as one of the bodies returned by Hamas. His family has identified him, marking the first confirmation that he was killed while in captivity. Nimrodi was serving in the Coordination and Liaison Administration to the Gaza Strip when he was abducted, and was last seen in footage with other hostages being led away by militants.
