'Truth & Treason' Review: The Price of Courage

Truth and Treason is a new film directed by Matt Whitaker that recounts the true story of young German resisters who risked everything to oppose the Nazi regime during World War II. The film centers on Helmuth Hübener, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who launches an anonymous campaign against the Nazis with the help of his friends. Their efforts are threatened when a Nazi officer begins closing in on them, using clues from Helmuth's typewriter. While the film follows some familiar tropes of wartime resistance stories, it delivers powerful performances, particularly from Ewan Horrocks and Rupert Evans, that keep the narrative compelling. Despite some uneven moments, the movie stands out for its harrowing depiction of courage and the price paid for defiance under a brutal regime.

Truth and Treason is rated PG-13 for its themes and some violence, and is currently showing in theaters.
