Steve Bannon, a prominent right-wing commentator, has called for the dismissal of President Trump's CIA director John Ratcliffe, accusing him of spreading 'bald-faced lies' regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. On his podcast, Bannon claimed that Ratcliffe and the agency provided misleading intelligence to Trump's chief hostage negotiator, Steve Witkoff, particularly about the prospects for a peace deal. Bannon argued that the information was biased and influenced by Israeli sources, and insisted Ratcliffe should resign immediately.
The criticism comes amid heightened tensions following a breach of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which has threatened the stability of a peace agreement brokered by the Trump administration. The recent violence resulted in dozens of deaths, with both sides blaming each other for the collapse of the truce. Other Trump allies, including former Congressman Matt Gaetz, have also voiced concerns about the deal and accused Israeli leadership of undermining the peace process.
Bannon did not spare other officials, criticizing Trump's ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, as well. The situation remains volatile, with the United States continuing to support efforts to restore the ceasefire and maintain the fragile peace.
