Schools across Kolkata are introducing self-defence training for girl students to enhance their safety and confidence. The Newtown School has launched a programme featuring Krav Maga, a practical self-defence system, while Orchid International School is offering Taekwondo classes to students and parents. Other institutions, including Rishi Aurobindo Memorial Academy and St. Augustine's Day School, have integrated karate into their curricula, extending these benefits to underprivileged children as well. State-aided schools are also collaborating with local police to provide special training sessions, highlighting a city-wide commitment to student empowerment and resilience.
