Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani has emphasized the need for international forces in Gaza to ensure that Palestinians and Israelis do not pose threats to each other, under a United States-brokered ceasefire plan. He stated that the mandate for these forces is being defined in collaboration with the United States, with the goal of securing both communities.
Sheikh Mohammed highlighted ongoing violations of the truce in Gaza, noting that such incidents occur daily and recalling previous breaches that endangered peace efforts. He stressed the importance of maintaining the ceasefire and described the coordinated efforts with Egypt and the United States to monitor and address violations.
The Prime Minister reiterated Qatar's support for the Palestinian Authority to govern both Gaza and the West Bank, advocating for a technocratic committee to oversee Gaza during the transition. He firmly asserted that the only viable path forward is the two-state solution, calling for a formula that allows both peoples to live side by side in safety.
