The unprecedented security measures include a no-fly zone around Villa Park, early school closures, and a ban on visiting fans, following concerns that Jewish supporters could be targeted and protests could escalate.

Masked protesters have posted inflammatory signs and Palestinian flags near the stadium, prompting condemnation from politicians who labelled the actions as antisemitic and called for their removal. Pro-Palestinian groups have called for Israeli teams to be suspended from European competitions, while a counter-protest by pro-Israel supporters is also planned.
