Court rejects police request to hold on to Qatargate suspect's devices, citing low chance he can access them

The Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court has denied a police request to retain three electronic devices belonging to Jonatan Urich, a key figure in the Qatargate scandal. Police seized two phones and a computer from Urich, an adviser to the prime minister, but have been unable to access their contents since March. Judge Menachem Mizrahi cited the low probability of police successfully unlocking the devices and defended Urich's right not to provide passwords, emphasizing his constitutional protection against self-incrimination. Authorities have until next week to appeal the court's decision.
