Israeli forces have evicted three Palestinian families from their homes in the Batn Al-Hawa neighborhood of Silwan, occupied Jerusalem, intensifying tensions in the area. The families, including the Al-Shweiki and Odeh households, were removed as security forces cordoned off streets and blocked access. During the eviction, Asmahan Al-Shweiki fainted and required hospitalization, while Ahmed Al-Shweiki reported physical assault and injuries.
The evictions are part of a broader campaign, with about 750 Palestinians from 87 families in Batn Al-Hawa facing similar orders. Settler organizations, supported by Israeli authorities, claim ownership of significant portions of land in the neighborhood. The Palestinian Authority has condemned the actions, calling them a systematic effort to displace Palestinians and expand settlements.
This incident reflects ongoing disputes over property rights in Jerusalem, where Israeli courts have allowed Jewish settlers to reclaim properties lost before 1948, while denying Palestinians the right to return or reclaim their own homes.
