More than a day after the Palestinian Islamic Jihad announced it had found the body of a hostage in central Gaza, there has been no official word from Hamas regarding the transfer of the remains to Israel. The Islamic Jihad confirmed reports that the body was discovered near Nuseirat, but neither it nor Hamas has made any public statement about returning the body. Traditionally, Hamas communicates plans to return the bodies of hostages, regardless of which group was holding them, but this time there has been silence. Currently, the bodies of three hostages are still believed to be held in the Gaza Strip.
