The governing coalition has rejected a bill that would have provided immediate financial aid to released hostages and families of those killed while in captivity. The legislation, proposed by opposition lawmaker Pnina Tamano-Shata, was defeated by a vote of 50 to 40. The bill aimed to grant a significant aid package to help with rehabilitation, as some families have had to seek public donations in addition to existing government support.
Following the vote, Tamano-Shata criticized the coalition for neglecting the needs of hostages and bereaved families, accusing the government of failing to offer adequate economic security. She pledged to continue advocating for comprehensive support for those affected.
