Salem Seleiman, 30, has been sentenced to two years in prison for his role in the 2021 assault of Joey Borgen, a Jewish man, in Times Square. The attack occurred near an anti-Israel rally and was carried out by a group of six men as Borgen was on his way to a pro-Israel counter-protest. The violent incident, which was captured on video, drew widespread attention as a major hate crime case in New York. Seleiman, the last of the attackers to be sentenced, pleaded guilty to hate-motivated assault charges after being extradited from Florida. The Manhattan district attorney emphasized that Borgen was targeted solely because of his religion and had done nothing to provoke the attack.
