The remains of Sudthisak Rinthalak, the last Thai national held hostage in Gaza since the October 2023 attack on Israel, have been returned to Thailand. Sudthisak, who worked in agriculture in southern Israel, was killed during the initial attack and his body was held in Gaza throughout the conflict. After being identified by Israeli authorities, his remains were repatriated to Bangkok, allowing his family to perform Buddhist funeral rites in his hometown. Thai officials and Israel's ambassador expressed condolences, while the Thai government pledged support for his family. The conflict has claimed the lives of 47 Thai nationals working in Israel, with tens of thousands of Thais employed in the country's agricultural sector.
