Justice Minister Yariv Levin has asked the High Court of Justice to reconsider its ban on appointing State Ombudsman for Judges Asher Kula as supervisor for the investigation into the Sde Teiman video leak. Levin says he has reached a 'dead end' after failing to find a suitable candidate who meets the court's criteria, despite extensive efforts. The court previously ruled that the supervisor must be a senior civil servant with experience in criminal investigations, and rejected Levin's earlier nominee. Levin now requests that Kula be allowed a temporary break from his ombudsman duties to oversee the probe.
The Movement for Quality Government opposes Levin's request, arguing he has not demonstrated sufficient effort to find an eligible candidate and accusing him of seeking confrontation with the court rather than a genuine solution.
