Oliver Lewin, a former telecoms engineer from Leicestershire, was sentenced to six and a half years in prison for plotting to attack phone masts in a bid to undermine the government. At a recent parole hearing, his prison offender manager recommended his release, stating Lewin does not pose a serious risk to the public. Lewin, who previously expressed hostility towards Jewish people and promoted conspiracy theories online, told the panel his views have changed and he now feels respect for Jewish people after studying religious texts and reflecting on recent events. The hearing also addressed Lewin's experiences of discrimination in prison due to his autism. The parole panel will consider further evidence before issuing its decision in two weeks.
