Police have made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of an alleged assault on a Norwegian tourist at St Kilda Pier in Melbourne. The 34-year-old visitor was reportedly attacked by a group of youths after being accused of taking photos of beachgoers, despite showing his phone to prove otherwise. The group allegedly assaulted him, stole his phone, and threw it into the ocean before fleeing the scene.
A 19-year-old man from Deer Park has been arrested and charged with multiple offences, including assault and robbery, and is set to appear in court next year. Authorities have released images of three men and a woman who they believe can assist with their inquiries, urging anyone with information to come forward. The victim, who suffered a broken arm, has since returned to Norway after his planned holiday was cut short.
