An Israeli airstrike in Gaza City killed at least two Palestinians and wounded several others, according to local health authorities. The Israeli military stated the strike was in retaliation for an earlier attack by Hamas militants on its troops and targeted a senior member of the group. Medical officials have not identified those killed, and Hamas has yet to comment on the incident.
Elsewhere in southern Gaza, an Israeli-backed Palestinian militia reported killing two Hamas fighters, highlighting ongoing tensions and challenges to Hamas' control in the enclave. Despite a ceasefire agreed in October, sporadic violence continues, with both sides accusing each other of violations. Since the truce, over 400 Palestinians and three Israeli soldiers have been killed.
