Liron Velleman, a former Labour councillor for Barnet's Whetstone ward, has pleaded guilty to sex offences involving a 13-year-old girl. Velleman admitted to attempting to engage in sexual communication with the child and trying to cause her to view sexual images, actions that took place in December 2024. He was apprehended following a police operation and has since been released on conditional bail, with sentencing scheduled for February. Advocacy group Hope Not Hate, where Velleman previously worked, condemned his actions and called for him to face the full force of the law.
