Talik Gvili, mother of Ran, a police officer whose body remains held by Hamas in Gaza after the October 7 massacre, spoke at the 'Gaza - The Day After' conference, urging Israel's leaders that no progress can be made until her son is returned. Gvili fears the ongoing hostage crisis may become normalized, diminishing public urgency and leaving families like hers behind. She recounted a personal promise from United States President Donald Trump to bring Ran home and dismissed claims by Hamas that they do not know the whereabouts of her son's body, insisting it is being deliberately withheld as leverage.

Gvili, a member of the Tikva Forum, has advocated for sustained military pressure as the only effective way to secure the return of hostages, despite differing opinions among other families. She emphasized that dedicating herself to these efforts is vital to her own survival and expressed respect for those who choose other paths, while remaining convinced that her approach is necessary.
