President Donald Trump addressed the situation in the Middle East during his appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos, claiming that peace has largely been achieved in the region. He acknowledged ongoing issues with groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah, noting that Hamas had agreed to disarm and that the next few weeks would reveal whether this commitment would be upheld. Trump also discussed recent airstrikes in Lebanon and the continued challenges posed by these groups, but maintained that these were limited flare-ups and that overall stability had been restored.

Trump emphasized the role of a coalition of fifty-nine countries, which he called the 'Board of Peace,' in supporting efforts against Hamas and promoting peace. He noted that some European nations had declined to join a newly proposed peace council, expressing concern about its impact on the global order. Turning to Iran, Trump asserted that a recent strike on the Fordo nuclear facility had neutralized the country's nuclear ambitions, preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and enabling regional agreements.

Additionally, Trump spoke about plans to develop a new ballistic missile defense system, referring to it as the 'Golden Dome.' He highlighted past assistance to Israel in building the Iron Dome and suggested that the upcoming system would surpass previous efforts, extending protection to the United States, Canada, and other nations.
