Sergeant Major Asael Babad, a reservist from the Menashe Regional Brigade's 941st Infantry Battalion, died Thursday after succumbing to wounds sustained three months ago in southern Gaza. Babad was critically injured during a clash in Rafah, where terrorists fired anti-tank missiles at troops shortly after a ceasefire began, killing two other soldiers in the same incident.
Babad, who grew up in Nov and was a father of five, had served in the Gaza Division before his injury. His family chose to donate his organs to help save other lives, and his funeral was scheduled at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
He was remembered by community leaders as a courageous fighter whose dedication and sacrifice would inspire unity and resilience among the nation.
