Participation in International Holocaust Remembrance Day among British high schools has dropped sharply, with recent figures showing a decline from over 2,000 schools in 2023 to just 854 in 2025. Minister of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism Amichai Chikli has formally appealed to the United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Education, urging immediate action to address the decrease and warning of the dangers of politicizing Holocaust education. Chikli emphasized that the fading of Holocaust remembrance among younger generations could fuel denial and antisemitism, calling for the subject to remain a national educational priority. The appeal comes ahead of an international conference on combating antisemitism, where legislative measures to support Holocaust education will be discussed.
