Negotiations for a free trade agreement between Indonesia and the Gulf Cooperation Council are progressing, with both parties aiming to finalize the deal by 2026. The latest round of talks concluded in Riyadh, where officials expressed optimism about reaching a substantive agreement that would strengthen economic ties. Indonesia's trade with Gulf countries is already significant, and the proposed agreement is expected to boost exports of key commodities such as palm oil, coffee, jewelry, and motor vehicles. The trade ministry projects that the agreement will increase Indonesian exports by over 17 percent and expand access to markets in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
