IDF tests readiness for Houthi infiltration via Jordan under manpower limits

The Central Command of the Israeli military has launched a major drill to assess its readiness for high-intensity scenarios across multiple fronts, all while operating with limited personnel. The exercise focuses on the potential infiltration of terrorist cells from the Jordanian border, with particular concern over the threat posed by Houthi operatives who may enter Jordan via Syria. Security officials have highlighted that criminal organizations are already exploiting these border corridors for smuggling, raising fears that they could also be used for terrorist activities.

A key aspect of the drill is to simulate a coordinated attack model similar to the events of October 7, this time targeting multiple communities in the West Bank. The exercise also considers the possibility of widespread disturbances in the region, especially if the Palestinian Authority faces internal succession struggles. The challenge for the Central Command is heightened by the need to manage these threats with a limited number of troops, as resources are being allocated to other operational areas such as Lebanon, Syria, and the Gaza Strip.
