Qatar has announced it will provide Lebanon with approximately $434 million in financial support, primarily targeting the country's struggling energy sector. Of this amount, about $400 million is earmarked for energy, with a portion allocated as a grant, while the rest will help strengthen the Lebanese army and other sectors. The aid comes as Lebanon faces immense challenges, including the need for reconstruction after the 2024 conflict with Israel and longstanding issues with fuel shortages and infrastructure. Qatar has played a significant role in Lebanon as both an investor and mediator, pushing for regional stability and investing in key projects such as offshore gas exploration.
