The Israeli Climate Forum, established in 2021 to unite government, civil society, academia, and business in combating climate change, continues its work despite the ongoing war and shifting political priorities. Led by Dov Khenin and Netta Galnoor-Tene, the forum is set to present its 2025 annual report, highlighting efforts to strengthen local government resilience, advise on national food security, and support the health system's response to extreme climate events.
Local governments, identified as key drivers of climate action, face challenges due to limited authority and funding, despite their readiness to implement climate plans. The forum has partnered with organizations to launch new projects in selected municipalities, addressing issues such as waste fires and stream rehabilitation.
Khenin and Galnoor-Tene are also working to integrate climate considerations into economic policy, engaging with finance officials and developing training on sustainable economics for public servants. The forum positions itself as a unique collaborative body, bridging gaps between environmental organizations and philanthropic support to advance climate action in Israel.
