Syrian army declares ISIS-linked camp 'closed security zone'

The Syrian army has declared the Al-Hol camp, which houses suspected relatives of Islamic State group fighters, a 'closed security zone' to strengthen security measures. The camp, located in Hasakeh province, is home to around 24,000 people, mostly women and children, including thousands of foreigners. Following the withdrawal of Kurdish-led forces, the army moved in, but the transition period saw some residents fleeing and new escape attempts reported. Humanitarian organizations have largely pulled out since the army's takeover, leading to worsening conditions as food, water, and medicine supplies dwindle.
