FIFA president Gianni Infantino has apologised for remarks about British fans made during the World Economic Forum, acknowledging that his comments were intended to highlight the peaceful nature of the World Cup in Qatar. Infantino also defended the decision to award the FIFA peace prize to United States president Donald Trump, citing Trump's role in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. He addressed criticism over the prize, as well as concerns about recent US policies and unrest, dismissing calls for a boycott of the upcoming World Cup. Infantino further stated that FIFA and UEFA would consider readmitting Russia to international football, arguing that the current ban has only led to more frustration and division.
