A man has been found guilty of hate crimes after desecrating religious texts and writing offensive graffiti in Leeds. Ibrahim Iqbal targeted a multi-faith prayer room at St James' Hospital, where he tore pages from several Qurans, set them on fire, and stuffed them into toilets and sinks, causing significant damage. Following his arrest, Iqbal wrote anti-Semitic graffiti on the wall of his police cell. The court heard that his actions were part of a deliberate campaign of hatred against both Muslim and Jewish communities. Iqbal will be sentenced in February following his conviction for religiously aggravated criminal damage.
