The United States Department of Defense is ending its academic partnership with Harvard University, citing concerns over the university's ideological direction and alleged anti-American sentiment. Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that military training, fellowships, and certificate programs with Harvard will cease, criticizing the institution for promoting radical and globalist ideologies that he says undermine the military's focus on strength and deterrence.

The move comes amid ongoing tensions between the Trump administration and Harvard, with President Donald Trump recently seeking damages from the university and accusing it of spreading misinformation. Hegseth also raised concerns about Harvard's research collaborations with Chinese entities and its handling of pro-Palestinian protests on campus. Military personnel currently enrolled at Harvard will be allowed to finish their studies before the partnership formally ends in the fall.

Hegseth indicated that similar actions may be considered against other elite universities, emphasizing a shift away from academic institutions perceived as hostile to American values. The Pentagon's decision marks a significant break in a relationship that dates back to the earliest days of the United States military.
