The United States intelligence agency published a message in Farsi on a social media platform urging Iranian anti-regime protesters to make secure contact, stating that it 'can hear your voice and wants to help you.' The post provided detailed digital security instructions aimed at helping activists avoid surveillance.
The guidance advised individuals not to use work devices or office phone lines and instead rely on new, disposable devices when possible. It also recommended being mindful of surroundings, using private or incognito browsing modes, and clearing browsing history after any communication.
Protesters were further encouraged to use external internet browsers and secure tools such as the Tor browser or other anti-filtering services to avoid monitoring by security and intelligence authorities. The agency asked that initial messages include personal details such as city and country of residence, occupation, level of access to information, and secure contact information for follow-up communication.
