Republican voters are giving Democratic Senator John Fetterman strong approval ratings, while support from members of his own party has sharply declined. A recent survey found that nearly three quarters of Republicans approve of his performance, while only a small share disapprove. Among Democratic voters, however, approval has fallen dramatically, with a clear majority expressing disapproval.
Independent voters remain more favorable toward Fetterman, but the collapse in Democratic backing could pose a serious challenge as he looks toward reelection in 2028. The shift marks a striking reversal from earlier polling that showed him strongly supported by Democrats and widely opposed by Republicans.
Fetterman has drawn bipartisan attention for siding with Republicans on issues such as support for Israel, elements of President Donald Trump’s immigration agenda, and the use of the National Guard to address crime. He has also publicly criticized fellow Democrats for skipping the president’s recent address to Congress, urging lawmakers to show respect for the office regardless of party.
