Former hostage Matan Angrest has revealed that he was tortured and electrocuted during more than two years in captivity in Gaza. Speaking in a televised interview, he described enduring hours of intense interrogation in which he was pressured to reveal highly sensitive military information, saying he understood that national security was at stake and that there were secrets he was prepared to die to protect.
Angrest said he was abducted after his tank was struck by a rocket propelled grenade near the Gaza border. When he regained consciousness, he found himself inside a home surrounded by several فلسطينians who questioned him about his military service. Unable to understand their Arabic questions, he said his captors became violent, beating him while his hands and feet were bound.
He also recounted severe physical abuse, including burns that left him unable to move his arm. At one point, he said, captors attached electric cables to his wound and shocked him, causing what he described as indescribable pain. His testimony provides a harrowing account of the treatment he says he endured while in captivity.
