Several articles published this week required corrections across multiple sections, including international, national, business and obituaries.
A report on the war involving Iran misquoted Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who said that American and Israeli forces would deliver 'death and destruction from the sky all day long.' The same error appeared in a separate article about the war’s effect on gasoline prices. Another international article misstated Lebanon’s size, incorrectly comparing it to Vermont when the country is actually about half as large.
In national coverage, a report on decades of child sexual abuse in Rhode Island’s Catholic churches misspelled the name of a former priest, Kevin Fisette. A business article incorrectly stated that Hyster-Yale paid forty million dollars in tariffs and saw an operating profit decline for the full year, when the figures applied only to the third quarter of twenty twenty five.
Two obituaries also contained errors, including the on-field position of umpire Bill Deegan during the nineteen seventy six World Series and the correct name of the Staple Singers. The publication noted that corrections are made during the press run when possible, so some errors may not have appeared in all editions.
