About 100,000 people have fled to collective shelters across Lebanon following what a senior United Nations official described as 'unprecedented' Israeli evacuation warnings. The orders targeted large parts of the country, including Beirut's southern suburbs and areas in the eastern Bekaa Valley, triggering widespread panic and mass displacement.

According to the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Lebanon, 477 shelters are currently housing displaced families, with only limited space remaining in 57 facilities. The rapid escalation has caused severe congestion and confusion, with many residents unsure where to seek safety as they flee their homes.

The official warned that the number of displaced people is expected to rise quickly. During the 2024 war between Hezbollah and Israel, more than one million people were uprooted, most of whom did not stay in shelters. A similar pattern is anticipated in the current crisis, with the majority of displaced likely seeking refuge outside organized shelter systems.
